Two SSI checks are coming in November. You can blame the calendar.

Some Social Security beneficiaries are scheduled to soon get the first of three checks – yes, three – in the month of November.
It's not a mistake, just an oddity of the calendar. Those who also get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will get three checks in the month of November.
Here's the lowdown: SSI recipients should get their November payment on Nov. 1. Then, SSI recipients will get their regular Social Security retirement benefits on a Wednesday in November, based on the Social Security Administration's usual schedule.
Later in the month, SSI recipients will also get their December SSI check. The reason? Those checks usually come out on the first business day of each month. Since Dec. 1 is a Sunday, December SSI payments will be distributed on Friday, Nov. 29, according to the SSA calendar.

Why would SSI recipients get two checks in November?
More than 7.4 million Americans get SSI, which provides payments to people with limited income resources, beyond traditional Social Security benefits. Because of the way the days of the month play out in December, SSI recipients will get their November payment on Nov. 1 and their monthly payment for December a bit early, on Friday, Nov. 29, according to the SSA calendar.
SSI schedule quirks continue through early 2025
The calendar quirks do not end there. Since the first business day in January 2025 is New Year's Day, a federal holiday, SSI recipients will get their January payment early, too. It will be issued on Dec. 31, 2024.
Then, according to the 2025 SSA calendar, SSI recipients will get their February 2025 payment on Jan. 31, 2025, and their March 2025 payment on Feb. 28, 2025. That means SSI recipients will not get a payment during the calendar month of March.
SSI recipients will also get two checks in May with the monthly SSI payment to be issued on May 1 and the June SSI payment on May 30, according to the SSA calendar. As a result, SSI beneficiaries will not get a payment in the calendar month of June.
This happens again in the month of August: SSI recipients will get two checks – the September payment is to be issued on Aug. 29 – but no payment in the calendar month of September.

What is Supplemental Security Income or SSI?
SSI provides monthly payments to those with limited income and who are 65 or older, blind, or those who have a qualifying disability – that includes children with a qualifying disability, too – according to the SSA website. For adults, SSI is generally for those who don’t earn more than $1,971 from work each month.If you think you could be eligible for SSI, you can begin the application process on the Social Security website.
