A Good Samaritan didn’t hesitate when he saw a dolphin calf stranded on a beach near Cape Town, South Africa.
South African rugby legend Percy Montgomery, who led his team to victory at the 2007 World Cup, was on a weekend away with friends when they spotted the dolphin in distress as they drove along the Western Cape.
They immediately stopped their car and rushed down the cliffs to the beach where Montgomery says his natural instincts kicked in. The former Springboks skipper grabbed the slippery dolphin in a safe pair of hands and waded through the surf to put it back into the ocean.
However, the dolphin seemed disoriented and was quickly washed back on shore. So, Montgomery tried again.
